Job Description

Continental Management is seeking a full-time Community Manager/Property manager with strong Tax Credit and Section 8 experience in the Metro Detroit, Michigan area. We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated and demonstrate strong customer service skills.

Managers are responsible for the overall management of sites, including oversight of on site offices, leasing, re-certification, AP related duties, fiscal management, and contract administration. Additional responsibilities include supervision of site employees.

Scope and Purpose

Community Managers will be responsible for the overall management of the site in accordance with Continental Management’s policies and procedures, under the supervision of the Regional Property Manager. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the Property Manager to carry out all duties in full compliance with Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity regulations as well as with Continental Management’s Fair Housing personnel policy and in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity regulation and Continental Management’s EEO policy. Some of the Physical demands include lifting up to 15 pounds, having a valid drivers license, being able to walk up and down steps and able to use a computer. All Community Managers must hold a valid real estate license, if required by code.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Property Manager reports to the Regional Manager and is directly responsible for:

  • Personnel Administration
  • Maintain the community in an attractive manner at all times
  • Application processing and Section 8, Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program compliance, or any other applicable site programs.
  • Accounts receivable/payable processing.
  • Marketing/advertising activities.
  • Tenant/landlord relations.
  • Special projects and tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager (or E.V.P.)
  • Prepare the Monday Report and other reports as directed.


Minimum two years experience in property management industry required. Must demonstrate strong understanding of both tax credit and Section 8 housing. Strong candidates will also have skill in: marketing and leasing, budgets, strategic planning, verbal and written communication, safety management, leadership and interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and facilities management systems.

All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
