Job Description

Legacy is seeking a full-time Compliance Manager Public Housing responsible for training and providing support as well as interpreting and applying government regulations to a Public Housing portfolio of properties located in Detroit, MI. This position is responsible for assuring program compliance through hands-on review and site implementation of regulatory agreements covering the rental housing industry, monthly reporting and procedures. The Compliance Manager will perform rent determinations and quality control reviews of applicant files, resident files, oversees EIV processes, input certifications, ensure accuracy in Yardi and review PIC regularly to ensure certifications remain in compliance. Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful. 



  • Customer Service Oriented
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience working in Compliance in Property Management
  • 3 or more years of Management experience
  • Strong data management, analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Superb communication skills with the flexibility to adjust to a diverse audience
  • Commitment to providing a high level of responsiveness to government agency contacts, contract administrators, and internal customers
  • Consistent professionalism 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to be part of a successful team operation
  • Proficiency in MS Office products 
  • Multi Family Section 8, PHA Section 8, LIHTC or Home program compliance experience strongly preferred
  • COS, COS-P or Tax Credit certification preferred
  • Experience in Yardi or similar property management software required
  • Some travel required, must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation
