TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS

  • Composes, formats and types letters, memoranda, reports, charts and other business correspondence
  • Establishes and maintains a hard copy and electronic filing system
  • Schedules and confirms various appointments and meetings
  • Answers the telephones and records messages when appropriate, using proper etiquette
  • Distributes mail and handles incoming/outgoing correspondence
  • Operates office equipment which may include a personal computer, copier, fax, etc.
  • Maintains related departmental records and supplies
  • Completes and submits requests for supplies, equipment and staff reimbursement
  • Prepares outgoing United Parcel Service (UPS)

Bidding Requirements:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to begin work at 7:30 a.m. or be required to work until 5:00 p.m.
  • Two years of work experience in an office environment including telephone handling responsibility
  • Current typing speed of 50 correct words per minute with a minimum of 90% accuracy
  • Successful completion of a typing test administered by Human Resources within the past 6 months. (Test will be waived if candidate currently holds or has previously held a position requiring at least 50 correct words per minute)
  • Knowledge of personal computing and software applications through experience, coursework, or successful completion (80% accuracy) of applicable tests administered by Human Resources including:
    • Intermediate word processing
    • Basic spreadsheet applications
