Job Description

The Brokerage Sales Director is primarily responsible for providing sales leadership and development for the independent broker channel in the Life, Health, and Medicare market. This position is responsible for providing strategic guidance and overall sales leadership and management for the internal Sales Managers. Each Sales Manager has a team of assigned independent agents within their geographic assigned regions, and are responsible for meeting production goals, building long-term client relationships, and work with stakeholders to plan and implement sales growth strategies. The Sales Managers will report directly to the Sales Director.

Job Duties Include:

  • Utilize effective interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusted beneficial business relationships to create Sales Strategy and Channel Integration.
    • Establishes critical relationships with internal business partners such as Product Development, Product Management, Enterprise Marketing, Group Sales and Diversified Businesses in order to provide consultative input and sales leadership which translates to increased sales opportunities and results
    • Collaborate with key Provider groups to achieve mutual growth within the Medicare market
    • Interfacing with internal business partners to create actionable sales plans that will deliver positive sales results
    • Provides strategic guidance and input in the development of Medicare and other Life and Health products
    • Representing Insurance Advisors Direct at various internal and external sales and business forums, in order to build and maintain relationships with key audiences
    • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the Medicare distribution channels (including Group Sales and Diversified Business) to build strong relationships that effectively promote the company and products.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing team for campaigns (including but not limited to advertising campaigns in media, community-based grassroots marketing, collateral development, messaging and other features).
    • Develops strategic sales plans to achieve membership targets for the Medicare independent broker channel

  • Sales Leadership-Ensuring that independent broker channel is positioned and functioning to meet strategic, sales and financial objectives. Directs, leads, and manages the geographically based broker sales managers by communicating expectations, managing performance, coaching and developing talent, motivating and rewarding staff
    • Develop/Support successful sales strategies to optimize sales in which face to face engagement may be limited
    • Adaptability-Ability to identify and analyzes field and competition to quickly identify the appropriate course of action. Demonstrates superior risk management of both internal and external business tactics
    • Forward Thinking-Establishes strategic plans for future success by effectively formulating strategies and action plans to achieve sales and revenue results in the immediate and in the long term
    • Managerial-Assessing performance and accountability of the broker sales management team for achievements which support established corporate goals
    • Being Proactive-Introduces new techniques and unique selling partnerships to the external distribution sales channel to grow both sales and revenue for the Medicare market
    • Balanced Approach-Leads sales growth while maintaining the balance between growth and profitability. Ensures that growth is both profitable for the long term and is within an allowable acquisition cost
    • Workgroups and Team Leadership-Utilize effective interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusted, beneficial business relationships.

Job Requirements

  • Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience
    • 10+ years related work experience
    • 5+ years direct supervisory/management experience
    • Medicare, Life and Health Product Knowledge (Medicare Advantage; Med Supp and Part D)
    • Understanding of sales processes for Medicare products
    • Ability to lead strategic planning initiatives and implement programs that achieve results
    • Excellent collaborative management and communications skills
    • Excellent relationship management skills and proven ability to develop/strengthen relationships with key business partners
    • Strong management and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent problem-solving ability and superior risk management skills
