Job Description

The Sr. Program Manager is responsible for the overall execution of a specific program or programs, the reporting thereof, and the customer relationship.  The Sr. Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program is designed, engineered, planned, and managed throughout the manufacturing process by multiple functional operations, and shipped per the customer’s requirements and expectations.  The role is also be responsible for continuous process improvement, supporting goal deployment, and implementing Lean practices where applicable.  This role may also be designated as the lead of other program managers supporting an account or customer and is responsible for guidance to less experienced program manager(s).

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Provide complete Program Management oversight on assigned programs in reference to managing cost, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction in compliance to specifications and commitments. 
  • Obtain commitment from all core team members for complete project or program plan and execution 
  • Present and lead customer or senior level program reviews and team meetings, and produce product cost and schedule reports, program performance status reports and recommendations to the Customer
  • Represent the Voice of the Customer to functional departments
  • Review, manage, and approve the creation of responses to RFQs, additional changes in contract/program scope, and/or any and all customer or internal changes that affect program goals/metrics (i.e. cost, gross margin, schedule(s)). Meet regularly with customers and promote up-scope sales generation on existing and new opportunity programs. 
  • Ensure programs are in compliance with commercial, defense, government standards and specifications as applicable 
  • Monitor risk on programs and create risk assessments; provide recommendations as needed to mitigate risks 
  • Generate and present all required documentation regarding complete control and monitoring of assigned program(s).  This includes scheduling, manufacturing visibility and providing reputable forward-looking forecasts.
  • Document all contract and manufacturing changes. Interface with Sales, Estimating and ERP administrator for cost or schedule impact improvement
  • Review project department metrics to ensure accuracy of reporting project performance to management and customers
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to metrics ensuring continued enhancement of operation efficiencies
  • Manage and coordinate any customer visit, project review and/or requests from either internal sources and/or external sources regarding status, economic health or any other aspect of performance of assigned project
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered.  Typical qualifications would be:

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Program and/or Project Management
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment – made to order fabrication a plus
  • Demonstrated experience directly dealing with a customer from a program/project, liaison, engineering, and/or sales perspective
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required 

·        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Advanced proficiency in Program Management tools and applications such as MS Project
  • Experience with tooling fabrication; liaison role between customer and supplier, and shop practices a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact and influence all levels within the organization
  • Excellent customer service and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings and understand Bill of Material (BOM) principles and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimension &Toleration (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices including welding, machining, bonding and fastening

  • May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands.
  • Work with safe manufacturing processes and understanding that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
  • Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.
