POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Global Logistics & Trade Compliance Sr. Manager is to develop and implement the overall global trade compliance and logistics strategy. This includes managing performance to budgets and working with our logistics and trade compliance partners to ensure they are meeting all agreed upon service levels as well as delivery metrics.  The Global Logistics & Trade Compliance Sr. Manager will develop and implement the strategy for a best in class Global Trade Compliance & Logistics program including the development, resourcing, and implementation of effective policies, procedures and processes; advocacy on behalf of the organization with various government organizations; oversight of International Trade Compliance (ITC) software; training and business support across the organization; as well as the definition, staffing, and ongoing evolution of a global organizational structure responsible for execution of tactical trade and logistics activities to support the business units. This position develops processes, manages and procures transportation, logistics and customs brokerage services through contract negotiations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for establishment, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the written Stoneridge Inc. global trade compliance strategy including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Oversee the successful implementation and local training of the associated site level policies, procedures and day to day ITC operations.
  • Provide leadership to North America & Europe direct reports and indirect trade compliance and logistics associates globally, including locations in USA, Mexico, Brazil, China, Europe and India or other areas Stoneridge, Inc. should expand its footprint to ensure global compliance.
  • Lead the ongoing development of the training plans / program for direct reports as well as general awareness updates and training for broader Stoneridge, Inc.
  • Evaluate the global ITC team to ensure the team has proper staffing, clarity of responsibility, appropriate skill sets, ongoing training and a strong network to be effective in their roles.
  • Serve as the key conduit and escalation point for ITC activities for the Stoneridge executive team including communication of trade regulation changes, compliance issues and trend updates.
  • Ensure the coordination and support to Stoneridge, Inc.’s functional areas on any issues involving trade compliance.
  • Advise the business on significant legal and regulatory changes and trade compliance trends, support impact assessment of required changes, and counsel the businesses on appropriate adjustments required.
  • Support business units with ITC related issues associated with strategic acquisition activities or impacts related to significant supply chain initiatives.
  • Lead periodic self-assessment of ITC performance and procedures and drive the identification and follow-up on all corrective action.
  • Perform trade requirement assessments, acting as a subject matter expert for internal, external and government audits and report findings and recommendations for additional controls or corrective actions to business leaders.
  • Analyze reports and metrics pertaining to various elements of the trade requirements process, and report out to executive management on trends, areas of concern and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure the complete and thorough investigation into any alleged misuse, unauthorized disclosure, improper handling, safeguarding, or destruction of information as it relates to potential violations of the trade requirements and the associated trade laws and regulations.
  • Oversee all transportation and freight payment functions globally.
  • Develop, review, and implement logistics processes; monitor processes ongoing to ensure consistency and compliance in the facilites; ensure processes are effective and efficient.
  • Engage the business as required to ensure alignment with operational objectives.
  • Develop and implement formal scorecards around inbound, outbound freight spend, carrier claims and returns, carrier delivery performance and conduct timely business reviews.
  • Develop goals and metrics to drive success and meet KPI’s for logistics, trade compliance and freight payment activities.
  • Lead and coordinate activities to ensure knowledge creation/sharing and integration throughout the organization.
  • Maintain performance and financial reporting and continually work to improve performance and drive cost efficiency in the network.
  • Report implemented monthly lean savings and opportunities for future savings.
  • Accountable for development and execution of negotiation strategies to meet financial and other performance goals of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Customs Broker License required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or a related field required, Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of international and US regulatory import/export trade experience, preferably within a multi-national corporation.
  • Experience developing and implementing trade programs, policies and procedures, and transforming a trade compliance organization.
  • Action oriented leadership qualities with the ability to convey a clear strategic vision and direct effective execution of a broad range of tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills with ability to work and influence effectively across functions.
  • Must be able to work well in a matrix organization and possess the leadership acumen to build successful cross-functional relationships with Legal, Tax, Finance, Logistics, Operations, IT and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expert in Harmonized Tariff Classification
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge of core procurement processes, strategic sourcing concepts, and negotiation tactics.
