Job Description

Salary: $55,213.00 - $96,623.00 per year, Employer Paid Benefits

Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the HR Manager, the incumbent is responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving human resources programs; coordinating consistent policy application and solving performance problems to support the current business plan. To provide the teams at MPA with information and direction relating to all areas of human resources. To develop training material and programs which support the team concept and provide training to team members in a variety of skills and programs.

Major Responsibilities of Position

  • Staffing – Annual development of a staffing plan; monthly reporting on actual results and forecasting
  • Recruiting – Lead the internal and external recruiting and interviewing process, post notices and advertisements, collect and screen applications, conduct 1st round interviews with hiring manager or supervisor, follow up with candidates, maintain applicant tracking system, prepare job offers, and arrange orientation.
  • Discipline – investigate, document fact finding and make recommendations for work-related discipline utilizing Discipline Review sessions to ensure open communication of the supervisor and managers.
  • Reporting – complete assigned monthly HR reports, provide data into useable, presentable spreadsheets for management, and keep accurate records of employee changes and movement.
  • Time and Attendance – Assist managers and supervisors on the timekeeping system to ensure accurate employee hours for payroll.
  • International Assignments and Immigration – complete letters for incoming visitors, create contract letters for long-term international assignees, and assist with the immigration process.
  • HRIS Optimization- Learn and use Plex HR portal to its highest degree of usefulness for the HR, payroll, and timekeeping functions.
  • Policy Administration – Understand and administer company policies and procedures fairly and consistently. Participate in the development and administration of effective and efficient human resources policies and practices designed to meet employee needs and legislative demands. Research employee practices and recommend changes or modifications to existing policies.
  • Training & Development – Schedule in-house training with employees, compile training material, maintain training records in Plex, run regular reports to ensure training does not expire, assist in ensuring training is completed on time.
  • Performance Management – Co-ordinate and administer employee performance systems including goal-setting, performance appraisal, compensation.
  • Wage Plan Development- Investigate and determine monetary value to a position(s) by means of a company process or policy. Common wage plans include progression plans and skill achievement. In addition, evaluate roles to ensure the organization offers competitive wage packages and prepare proposals for required adjustments.
  • Self-development accomplished and career plans developed.
  • Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work in production setting around loud noises and potentially hot/humid conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk
  • Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily

Educational and Certification Background

Bachelor’s degree in human resource management/equivalent field of study or 8 years of directly related experience - Essential

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Human Resources role dealing with a variety of tasks including recruiting, training, discipline and other key HR activities - Essential

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing HR role - Essential

Experience with HRIS system - Essential

Pursuing PHR Certification - Highly Desirable
