Job Description

Salary: $59,629.00 - $104,351.00 per year

Primary Purpose of Position

The Maintenance Function leader is responsible for directing all of the daily work activities for the maintenance department and related maintenance personnel. He or She uses the manufacturing daily priority and set-up schedules, delegating assignments to ensure the timely and efficient completion of repairs and/or projects.
Major Responsibilities of Position

  • Safety- Maintaining a safe working environment and good housekeeping
  • All manufacturing equipment properly maintained
  • Preventative maintenance programs developed and maintained for all machines.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation ideas development
  • Understand how to Control expenses and maintain a budget
  • Assist production in meeting production goals including but not limited to good piece up time
  • Promote and support training programs to achieve continuous improvement of employees in the maintenance department
  • Develop and tracks key performance indicators for maintenance department and to take actions to improve or exceed company’s targets
  • Ensure all administration, policies, procedures, paperwork and planning activities are completed
  • Ensure maintenance activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
  • Promote professionalism in work habits for all maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining of all required stock tool repair inventories.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with outside suppliers and vendors.
  • Complete goals that are set forth by the Maintenance and tooling manager

Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):

  • Ability to work extended hours including weekends in order to objective accomplishment
  • Ability to manage daily priorities and task accomplishment
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Ability to become certified by MPA as a fork truck driver
  • Ability to become certified by MPA as a overhead crane operator Ability to coordinate team activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written
  • Fluent in English
  • Fill out work orders for work completed
  • Diagnose equipment issues and make the appropriate repairs in a timely manner
  • Recommend permanent solutions to re-occurring equipment issues
  • Recommend additional spare parts if required to maintain equipment

Physical demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, grasp, and lift – occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally climb and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Visual requirements include ability to visually inspect work performed, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Ability to drive/operate forklift
  • Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily

Work Environment

  • Automotive manufacturing environment: shift work, i.e., five-eight-hour shifts for 40 regular hours per week with overtime as required.
  • Shop Environment: 75% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions; standard tools available
  • Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected

Educational and Certification Background

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience with equipment maintenance.
  • Past supervisory experience minimum of five years required.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Power-point, Timeline).
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • A sound command of written and oral English language.
  • Can demonstrate good trouble shooting skills and methodologies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with all employees and outside vendor/suppliers to achieve departmental and company goals.

Must have an active Journeymen’s Card/Certificate - Highly Desirable

HS Diploma or equivalent - Essential
