Job Description

Blue Water Community Action has a job opening in the Children’s Services Department for a full time Head Start Teacher.

WAGE: $20.02-$23.80 an hour plus a temporary retention program that pays an additional $2 per hour quarterly bonus payout.

What does a Head Start Teacher do?

The purpose of the Head Start Teacher is to provide a safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom environment and to implement the High/Scope curriculum in a manner that maximizes child outcomes.

What are the qualifications for the position?

  • At least an associate degree in child development or early childhood education OR teaching certificate with ZA endorsement with bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Must obtain a bachelor’s degree in ECE within 3 years of hire, if applicable.
  • Obtain and maintain first aid, CPR and CDA (if applicable) certification.
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • Experience working with low-income and/or at-risk children/families preferred.
