Job Description: Tooling Service Technician

Position Summary: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Tooling Service Technician to join our client's team. As a Tooling Service Technician, your primary responsibility will be the repair and maintenance of a wide range of tools, including punch tools, IP tools, and other specialized equipment. This role requires extensive knowledge and expertise in tool repair techniques, as well as a willingness to travel extensively, with approximately 85% of your time spent on-site at client locations. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, a strong mechanical aptitude, and outstanding customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on various types of tools, such as punch tools, IP tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Diagnose tool malfunctions and implement appropriate repair strategies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble tools following manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Utilize a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to conduct repairs.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify and understand their specific tooling needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Provide on-site technical support and assistance to clients, minimizing disruptions to their operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on tools to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs, including records of parts used, labor hours, and associated costs.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, technological advancements, and tool repair techniques through continuous learning and training.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to communicate customer feedback, suggest product improvements, and share emerging repair trends.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in tool repair or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Tooling Service Technician or in a similar role, with expertise in repairing various types of tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of punch tools, IP tools, and related equipment, including their components, functions, and repair techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to efficiently troubleshoot complex tooling issues.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, working independently and adapting to different work environments.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and strict adherence to quality standards.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
