Job Summary

Assists with planning and co-developing strategies to implement public transportation services, transit facilities and related infrastructure throughout Oakland County. Assists Administration in identifying the needs of transit users and prioritizing transit system enhancements. Informed by available demographic data, analytics, ridership forecasting, equity, and operational information, assists in charting mid-range transit priorities for Oakland County. Assists in the documentation of mobility challenges and promotes transit solutions. This includes a full range of modes, such as walking, bicycling, use of micromobility devices, advance reservation, microtransit, ADA paratransit, fixed route, and rapid transit. Interfaces with local government officials, transit providers, transportation agencies and other County departments. May be required to work an adjusted schedule involving evening hours and/or weekends to attend municipal Board meetings and related project meetings or public engagement activities. Utilizes current countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

At the time of application, applicant must:

1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, GIS or a related field.

2. Have had at least one (1) year of full-time progressively responsible work experience in transit planning, city, county or regional planning, private consulting planning, or other closely related professional planning experience.

NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the degree areas listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

3. Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
