The Marine Engine Builder will join a growing and talented team of Customer Experience representatives, engineers and machinists who are committed to ensuring every engine we design and build for the water performs with Ilmor-standard perfection. You'll work on custom marine engine assemblies, record build data, partner with supply chain on planning and any delays, and be an integral member of our Build Shop and Customer Experience Team.
Essential Duties:
- Assemble and build marine engines and drives designed, manufactured, or serviced by Ilmor following industry-standard assembly techniques.
- Final inspect engine following dyno verification and winterize ready for shipment
- Support supply chain team with forecasting and any recognized supplier issues
- Work with engineering on build process improvements. Work with engineering on developing build process sheets
- Set and verify part clearances
- Verify conformance of parts to stock lists or blueprints using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers
- Accurate use of measuring equipment and the required hand tools
- Assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in drives or transmissions
- Teardown, clean and crack testing of parts using non-destructive methods
- Engine build record-keeping with component history of data and report writing
- Travel – 10-15%
- Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on engine or subassembly engine building experience
- 1+ years of experience tearing down engines, performing inspections and diagnosing root cause of engine failures
- Knowledge and experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, gauges, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational or Associates in a related subject such as assembly, engineering, engine technology, or similar
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft applications with proven experience in Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge
- Marine Industry – Knowledge and passion for the marine industry with an understanding of product identification, drive types, and major players in the marine space.
- Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and explosives.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
Nuts & Bolts:
- Full-time: (40 hours) + occasional mandatory overtime
- Shift time: 7am - 4pm M - F + Overtime as needed.
