This position involves set up and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines to prescribed tolerances. Operate conventional engine lathes, milling, and grinding, drilling, sawing, and boring machines.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for setup and operation of large CNC Lathe and CNC Mill
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, tables and various symbols regarding tolerances, surface finishes, etc.
  • Set up and adjust production machinery/tools
  • Program or perform program modifications
  • Monitoring of tools, fixtures, and machines
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Quality inspections
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Loading and unloading
  • Manual de-burring of finished products
  • Perform basic maintenance of machines and keep track of preventative maintenance schedules.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience, consisting of machine setup & operation
  • Ability to read and understand programs to a degree that will allow you to modify / edit programs.
  • General machinist certification an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with gear manufacturing
  • Ability to read & interpret blue prints, drawings, charts & tables.
  • Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
