Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

The holder of this position will be a member of a team of Field Service Technicians who represent Rotork’ s after-sale services travelling extensively in the US recording 20-30,000 miles per year with extensive nights away from home.


The primary role of the Field Service Technician is to install, service, repair and commission actuators and associated equipment in our customer’s plant/site. The job holder will be required to work in end users’ plant primarily in the Water, Wastewater, Power generation and Petrochemical industries meeting the client’s regulations and working hours. This role would suit a determined problem-solver, who can think logically for troubleshooting issues and has the willingness to travel extensively with overnight stays included.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

• To identify faults, repair, and test/commission actuators in the field
• To modify/upgrade actuators in the field
• Carry out inspections/health checks on Rotork actuators
• Carry out mechanical/electrical installation of actuators and associated retrofit adaption components, pedestals, and drive shafts
• To produce good quality site visit reports for each job in a timely manner
• To carry out detailed site surveys gathering all details required to enable manufacture of adaption components for site installations
• To produce/review risk assessments and method statements in line with site requirements
• To give basic set up training to customer’s if required
• To promote the capabilities of Rotork Site Services and identify business opportunities
• To complete and submit all expenses/time sheets on a weekly basis
• To complete all health and safety training and documentation requirements as required
• To keep the company vehicle clean, and maintained in good repair in accordance with the manufacturers service schedule

Qualifications & Technical knowledge:

• A technical qualification/degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Experience in a practical engineering environment, preferably in a field-based role
• Experience in industrial valve actuation or similar industry and/or product

• Proficient Microsoft office user outlook, word, excel
• Able to attend training courses to attain CSCS, CCNSG, confined space and first aid
• Able and willing to meet an extensive travel commitment often at short notice
• Self-motivated, willing to accept responsibility, hard working and willing to exceed expectations when required
• A desire to further their technical skills and knowledge of Rotork products
