We are currently searching for a dynamic, Controls Engineer to be responsible for FANUC America general industrial paint robot system applications. This is an Auto Component Paint (ACP) Controls based engineering position responsible for software development, implementation, and testing on site responsibilities in various manufacturing environments.

Primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Responsible for controls system software (PLC/HMI/GUI) design and implementation
  • Work as part of an execution team and assume responsibility of system control function from start to finish of the project
  • Work with other controls engineers and /or supervise engineers working on projects
  • Write controls specifications defining the functional scope of controls and the I/O requirements
  • Review and assist the system design process
  • Program and debug PLC programs
  • Write standard operating procedures
  • Support integration of systems on manufacturing floor
  • Support field installation, startup, and debug of systems
  • Hold customer training sessions as needed
  • Assist in quoting and specifying future projects
  • Develop controls solutions for third party equipment for use in system solutions
  • Support sales and quoting efforts as required

Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in PLC and/or PC software programming
  • Experience with systems engineering, design, assembly
  • Strong programming skills in Visual Basic, .Net, C#, Karel or equivalent programming environments
  • Familiarity with networking protocols and electrical/pneumatic drawings
  • Ability to understand software specifications, project status, and technical information
  • Ability to develop, implement and test software for the following: PLC, GUI, HMI, and Robot Controller
  • Experience with robotic automation system programming (KAREL)
  • Programming in Crimson
