We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a well-rounded IT background to join our team in this front-line support position.  This employment opportunity involves working with and supporting our customers with things like:

 

  • New PC setup, servers, email, printers, malware and virus removal, networking, low voltage cabling and more!

 

We want to support you in developing existing and new skillsets. Whether you have some low voltage skills but want to become more fluent in technology or you have great Microsoft skills and want to learn more networking, we will provide you the support, experience and the environment to excel and succeed!

 

We are looking for a Rockstar and in an ideal world, the below would be awesome technical skills to have:

 

  • Knowledge in LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi technology
  • Knowledge in administration of Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2008 - latest, and Microsoft Hyper V.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Operating Systems installations
  • Knowledge in installation of network cabling and associated hardware
  • Ability to assess customer sites and conduct job surveys. Read and create diagrams as built, layouts, blueprints and scope of work documents
  • Provide end-user training
  • Walk user through problem solving process
  • Hardware knowledge (PC, Printer, Scanner, VOIP Phone, Mobile Devices – Mac experience a plus)
  • Software (Windows 7 & newer, Office Suite, Google Apps)

 

Nice to have:

 

  • 4-year degree or equivalent related technical experience
  • Knowledge in networking, DNS and Domain Services
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Exchange (all versions)
  • Knowledge in switches, routers, firewalls and VPN’s
  • Knowledge in file security and domain access control
  • Knowledge in Active Directory Administration
  • Knowledge in ability to diagnose difficult hardware and software problems
  • Possess working knowledge of BICSI, NSI, TIA, EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code
  • Troubleshooting and installation of all types of structured cable related technologies including CAT5e, CAT6, Co-axial and fiber optic
  • Construction abilities including installing plywood backboards, using ladders, mounting cameras, wireless access points, experience with power tools

Work Environment

We would expect that some work can be done remotely at home.  We have an office in West Bloomfield where we will provide a space to work.  Based on job duties, local travel will be required to our customer sites in and around Southeastern Michigan.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Personal Protective Equipment may be required when working in designated areas. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate but normally is low.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, product and component specifications, data sheets and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate technical (design, analysis, certification, etc.) details via verbal or written mediums. Ability to contribute to technical discussions before groups of customers and/or employees.
