The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising employees in a packaging environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies, procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES
- Coordinate packaging results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating and enforcing system, policies, and procedures
- Maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing standards; observing packaging flow and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; develop reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
- Complete production plan goals on time; by scheduling and assigning personnel; achieve work results; establish priorities; monitor progress; revise schedules; resolve problems; report process flow results at daily communication meeting
- Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answer questions and respond to requests
- Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; develop personal growth plans and track performance
- Maintain up to date professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment, and resources while adhering to company & federal compliance standards
- Issue warning notices to employees for violations of rules/company policies or performance deficiencies. Ensures that all vacation request form are filled out and turned into Human Resources
- Ensure the completion of all work orders
SPECIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a High School diploma or GED
- Must have 2 years of experience working in manufacturing or packaging
- Must have 2 years of experience working in warehouse, receiving & shipping
- Must have 1 year of supervisory experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills, instructional and leadership skills
- Must be able to demonstrate full understanding of production flow process
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in SAP and with basic computer skills
- Able to use SAP as related to production, preferred
