Job Description

SUMMARY

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 

Following established methods and procedures must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following:
• Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.
• Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Check previous similar projects for useful drawings, concepts, handling methods, etc. Meet with the engineering manager, engineering director and sales to firm up the machine design concept. Make the necessary mechanical and electrical calculations to size pumps, motors, heat exchangers, transformers, capacitors, coils, etc. Reconcile what sales department sold with customer requirements to accomplishthe machines’ objective.
• Submit documentation as required for customer approval and assist in presentations. Communicate with vendors and provide liaison with contracted outside engineering, etc.
• Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
• Auto Cad/Solid Works Experience Required. 
• Directs integration of technical activities and products.
• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
• Prepares interim and completion project reports

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical or Electrical engineering from four-year college or university
• One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• A mechanical or electrical engineering degree is most desirable. 
• Any industrial machine tool experience or acumen is an asset and the ability to work with people.
