Prior experience in the fire protection industry is not required. However, applicants should have basic electrical knowledge, be comfortable using hand tools, and possess general mechanical skills.
Position Overview
Assist experienced technicians with installing fire alarm systems by using basic hand tools and following clear instructions.
Support with routine inspections and simple maintenance tasks by applying your mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Help test fire alarm systems to ensure they’re working properly, under the guidance of a senior technician.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including tool setup and cleanup.
Follow all company safety rules and standard procedures while working on job sites or in the warehouse.
Participate in on-the-job training and begin the process of earning certifications as needed.
Help move tools, materials, and equipment safely, including loading and unloading trucks.
Assist in making sure fire alarm installations follow code and help troubleshoot basic issues.
Support the team by helping fill out simple reports and documenting any problems or work completed.
Check in regularly with your lead technician and clearly report your progress and any concerns.
Help care for and maintain tools, ladders, and equipment, and report anything damaged or missing.
Assist with inspecting and performing light maintenance on company vehicles and related equipment.
Always use personal protective equipment and follow proper safety and tool-handling procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Basic knowledge of electrical systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders.
• Comfortable working at heights, including on ladders and aerial work platforms.
• Physically capable of performing tasks that involve climbing, balancing, and working in various positions.
• Flexibility to work overtime, after hours, and on weekends as required to meet project demands.
