Job Description
Cardinal Staffing is hiring an Fabrication Estimator for a steel manufacturing facility in Burton, MI. We're looking for a candidate who will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can help us price custom metal projects with precision and confidence.
Location: Burton, MI | Pay:$23-$25 | Full-Time | Shift: 6 am - 3:30 pm |
Key Responsibilities:

- Review prints and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates
- Estimate material, labor, subcontracting, and equipment costs for custom metal fabrication jobs
- Work with the project team to evaluate manufacturability, lead times, and shop routing
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to confirm material pricing and availability
- Support inside sales by preparing timely, accurate quotes and following up as needed
- Track changes in scope and update estimates accordingly
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve pricing strategy and shop efficiency
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in fabrication estimating (steel, stainless, structural, or custom metalwork)
- Strong blueprint reading and understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, forming, welding, machining)
- Familiar with job travelers, shop scheduling, and routing
- Proficient with estimating software, Excel, and general job costing methods
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple quotes simultaneously
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
