The Companion/Sitter plays a vital role in providing non-medical comfort, supervision, and companionship to patients who need emotional support or assistance with daily routines. This position focuses on enhancing quality of life, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe, reassuring home environment. Companions serve as trusted support figures — keeping patients' company, monitoring for safety, and helping with light daily tasks while maintaining dignity and respect.
Provide companionship and emotional support through conversation, reading, games, or leisure activities.
Offer supervision and safety monitoring, particularly for patients who are elderly, memory-impaired, or recovering.
Assist with light household tasks, including tidying up, laundry, and simple meal or snack preparation.
Accompany patients on short walks, appointments, or errands as permitted in the care plan.
Observe and report any changes in the patient’s condition, behavior, or environment to the supervising nurse or coordinator.
Ensure a clean, calm, and comfortable living space for the patient.
Document visit details and interactions accurately in the R.U.S.H. electronic charting system before ending each shift.
