Cold Heading Operator

As a Header machine operator, you will be responsible for the manufacturing of quality parts using the header production machines, as well as performing basic maintenance activities and working in coordination with all safety standards and requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Setup and operate a variety of heading machines to produce quality products of any complexity

·         Plan and perform close tolerance setups with little or no assistance

·         Set up repetitive jobs requiring close tolerance

·         Select feeds, speeds, cans, tooling, etc. for most economical production rate of the machine

·         Use scales, micrometers, dial indicators and fixed gauges to do checks and gauge work

·         Adapt or modify tooling to meet gauge work

·         Lubricate and make adjustments or repairs to maintain equipment

·         Start machine, observe operations, and inspect first run and sample work piece to ensure machining conforms to specifications

·         Review the work and assist other operators as necessary to ensure proper work instructions and quality procedures are being followed

·         Work with engineering and/or maintenance to resolve specific machine, tooling, setup problems that may arise

·         Set up machines, and stack, mark, pack, and transport finished product with HiLo – weight out and tag product

·         Perform the necessary safety requirements to avoid injury to self or fellow employees

·         Housekeeping – maintain a clean and safe working environment

·         Ensure preparation and implementation of the EHS policy is adhered to and followed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         An understanding of fastener joining technology is preferred

·         Good communication skills

·         Self-motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimal supervision

Education and Experience:

·         4+years of previous production experience in the manufacturing industry preferred

·         High School diploma or GED

·         ERP (SAP) experience preferred

·         Cold Heading, Tapping and Thread Rolling experience preferred

·         Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
