Duties Performs a broad range of activities related to traffic engineering including conducting joint field layouts with signal contractors and utility companies for traffic signal and overhead sign installations. Inspects more difficult or extensive road and signal projects involving Federal Aid Funding, requiring accurate and detailed recordkeeping, subject to audit. Inspects work by contractors to ensure proper methods, procedures and materials are used during installation (including troubleshooting). Prepares and distributes accurate Traffic Signal paperwork for field installations. Provides direction and coordinates the work of other inspectors (including third party contractors) when required. Calculates volumes and areas of complex shapes. Performs inspection on traffic signal installation and modernization work done by contractors. Keeps accurate records of contractor work.
