Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented paralegal to support our legal team. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting documents, managing case files, and assisting attorneys in trial preparation. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, proficiency in legal software, and the ability to communicate effectively. A degree in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management:
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in the preparation of case summaries, legal arguments, and case strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
Document Preparation:
  • Draft and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Prepare and file court documents, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits, evidence, and witness lists.
Client Communication:
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiries.
  • Schedule and coordinate client meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Administrative Support:
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Manage attorney calendars and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as data entry, file management, and correspondence.
Research and Investigation:
  • Conduct fact-finding investigations to support case development.
  • Interview witnesses and gather statements and affidavits.
  • Analyze and summarize medical records, police reports, and other relevant documents.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:
  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited program is highly desirable.
Experience:
  • Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in a similar legal setting.
  • Experience with legal research, drafting legal documents, and case management.
Skills:
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
