Synergy Consulting Engineers is seeking a qualified candidate to perform Commissioning and Facility Condition Assessments wherever they are needed in Michigan and across our nationwide portfolio. This role blends hands-on mechanical or electrical commissioning and/or facility health assessments, supporting projects through on-site and remote work based on project demands, with travel up to 50% of the time. Ideal candidates have experience with MEP building systems, enjoy field-based problem solving, and thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment focused on delivering high-quality outcomes for diverse facilities.

 What do you need?

  • Enthusiasm to learn and apply Building Commissioning and Facility Condition Assessment processes
  • Ability to perform field observations, inspections, and functional testing of mechanical or electrical building systems
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and controls, air systems, hydronic systems, central plants, and related life safety interfaces
  • Interest in developing skills in functional performance testing, system-specific installation and operation checklists, inspection reports, and documentation
  • Strong collaboration skills to work within a multi-disciplinary team, manage multiple projects, and deliver clear, timely reports

 What qualifies you?

  • 1-2 years in Mechanical or Electrical building systems
  • Mechanical Systems Design Engineering experience, HVAC service background, or commissioning technician experience and/or Electrical Apprentice, Journeyman, or licensed Electrical Contractor experience
  • Experience with HVAC, Plumbing, and/or Electrical systems including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, or construction administration
  • Understanding of building codes, architectural and engineering design processes, building systems installation, performance, maintenance industry standards, and scheduling

 Within 3 Months You Will…

  • Put what you’ve learned into action by ramping up your project workload
  • Work independently on job sites and build proficiency in field observations, functional testing, and report writing
  • Become proficient in utilizing company software tools to perform Commissioning and Facility Condition Assessments
  • Travel to project sites and deliver quality service to clients

 Within 6-12 Months You Will…

  • Contribute to the team by mastering the core responsibilities of the role
  • Grow professionally through continuing education and expanded technical expertise
  • Develop the ability to grow into Project Management responsibilities
  • Interact with and build rapport with clients in support of project delivery and management
