CNC Machinist – Day Shift

$18.00 - $28.00 hourly

Job Description

Build Great Parts. Take Pride in Your Work. Go Home Knowing It Matters.

There's something satisfying about making a part that's right.

Not "close enough."

Not "we'll fix it later."

Right.

If you're the type of machinist who takes pride in tight tolerances, enjoys solving manufacturing challenges, and believes craftsmanship still matters, we'd like to talk.

At Systematic Manufacturing Inc. (SMI), we're looking for experienced CNC machinists who care about quality as much as production. Whether your background is primarily in mills, lathes, or both, we're interested in people who want to continue building their skills while producing precision components our customers depend on.

This isn't a button-pushing position.

It's an opportunity to work alongside people who appreciate good machining, support one another, and take pride in getting the job done right.

What You'll Do

Every day brings a different challenge.

One day you may be proving out a new setup.

The next, you're finding a better way to machine a difficult feature or helping solve a production issue before it impacts a customer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Performing first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Using precision measuring equipment to verify part quality.
  • Troubleshooting tooling, setup, and machining issues.
  • Making program edits, tool offsets, and wear adjustments when required.
  • Working with Engineering, Quality, and Production to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and inspection records.
  • Helping improve efficiency, quality, and consistency throughout the shop.

The Kind of Machinist Who Thrives Here

You probably notice things other people don't.

You catch a worn insert before it ruins parts.

You know when a setup just doesn't feel right.

You'd rather spend an extra few minutes doing it correctly than spend hours sorting bad parts later.

You take ownership of your work because your name goes on every job you complete—even if no one else ever sees it.

You're dependable.

You enjoy learning.

You respect people who know their craft, and you enjoy working alongside them.

If that sounds like you, you'll fit in well here.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, or both.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Reliable attendance and a team-first attitude.

Experience That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience with both mills and lathes.
  • Basic CNC programming knowledge.
  • Multi-axis machining experience.
  • Aerospace, defense, or other precision manufacturing experience.
  • Wire EDM familiarity.
  • ERP or manufacturing software experience.

Compensation & Schedule

Starting at $18.00 per hour, with higher compensation available for candidates who bring exceptional machining experience, technical ability, and a proven track record of producing quality work.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

If you're ready to own your shift, solve problems, and build parts you can be proud of, we'd like to talk.
