COTS assists families and individuals in reaching their housing, economic, health, education and career goals as they strive to overcome homelessness and break the cycle of poverty for themselves, their next generation and beyond.
COTS was established in 1982 to serve the most vulnerable members of the Detroit community. Starting with an emergency shelter to address Detroit's growing homelessness crisis, COTS today offers a continuum of services including:
- Family Emergency Shelter;
- Permanent Supportive Housing;
- Case management through support of housing specialists, mobility coaches and mentors;
- Compassionate & trauma informed care;
- Safe and nurturing licensed child care through Bright Beginnings Infant and Child Development Center;
- Partner driven opportunities for financial literacy, budgeting, health care services and support, GED and advanced education completion, job training and employment;
- Parenting Support, life-skills training, tutoring, after school and summer recreation programming.
